flurries

I went outside just a few minutes ago and was surprised to see flurries, the first of the season. I’m definitely a little sad. With all the cold weather we got in August, I never really worked myself up to saying goodbye to the end of the summer. I usually get excited about the first flakes of snow, but this year I’m still thirsting for another dip in my Aunt’s pool. I think I’ll try to make myself feel better by reading the copy of the Better Homes and Gardens Holiday Cookie magazine issue that I just bought the other day.

In memory of summer, I thought I’d look back at a picture of some of the beautiful bush basil that I harvested over the summer. It was certainly tasty, but those leaves are a pain in the ass to remove for making pesto. I’ll think I’ll plant a little more of the regular large-leafed basil in the spring.
