First Mittens
I crocheted my first pair of mittens!
Here’s the pattern I used: Hearts On A String Mittens. Since I didn’t have any Homespun laying around, I used two strands of a lighter weight yarn. I didn’t mind substituting yarn and ignoring gauge since you pretty much measure everything in this pattern. I will say that by using 2 yarns, I created mittens that feel a little like they are made of kevlar. A little stiff, ya know? But they definitely won’t let in the snow when Arp goes shoveling, and I doubt he’ll end up with those little holes in the glove you get from gripping the steering wheel. Plus, I’m hoping those hearts draw attention to my hubby, and that he will brag to the world that his lovely wife just made him her first pair of mittens!

Those look great, Trish! I am sure you must be very proud of your work. I used to crochet a lot myself, mostly baby blankets and scarves. I’ve never made mittens. It’s actually been a few years since I’ve touched my crochet materials. I would like to get back into it. One of these days. Thanks for sharing your work! Do you have another crochet project in the works?

Ophelia - I go back and forth with knitting and crocheting. Sometimes I like one better, sometimes the other. And I get bored easily, so I have a lot of unfinished projects. I’m going to post about my next project in a few days…

I have never done any knitting. I love crocheting and as I said earlier, I would love to get back into it. I love cross-stitch as well, and I have far too many unfinished cross-stitch projects in my crafts drawer! It’s really my own fault, as I always pick designs that take forever to complete!
