That first realtor interview was not all that.  I interviewed the guy who had sold us the house, not because we liked him but because we realized that he had done a good job of smoothing things over.  I didn’t like him then, and I still don’t like him much now.  If the house doesn’t sell after a year with another realtor, I might consider him as a last resort, but he seems keen on listing as many houses as possible (listing 84% more properties than ‘any other realtor’ in the county doesn’t sound good to me) and making as many sales as possible.  Plus, he has the shining personality of a wet sock and I get this feeling that he doesn’t wash his hands after peeing.  I don’t have any proof, but that’s what my gut tells me.  (I washed my hands right after he left.)

Realtor #2 was a recommendation from our local neighborhood message board, and since she lives in the same development, I thought she’d have a good perspective on things.  I was surprised when I saw her that I recognized her from our local homeowner’s association meetings.  She’s a vocal member of this community, which is a plus.  She arrived with her partner and both were personable, easy to talk to with no BS.  Unlike realtor #1, she’s not down with ‘pleading ignorance’ on things that need repair.  And while she & her partner said some of the same things that any realtor would say - clear the clutter, paint a couple of rooms, fix some stuff - I got good vibes from them.

Our overall conversation was expansive, from discussing community to ecology.  I think they won me over for good when both were stunned that we had the old school Fisher Price farm.  And the record player.  I think I’ll give them a call once the house is ready (hopefully by spring), and if Trish digs them too, then our realtor search will be over.
