Would you be dumb enough to pay for homeschooling advice?
Someone thinks so. I’m guessing the target audience would be People Who Can’t Google. I shouldn’t be surprised as I’m sure someone has been dumb enough to pay the guy/girl. Fools and their money are easily parted, a fact that has been exploited by many, many people throughout history. Since the dynamic of the Internet has shifted strongly towards the free & open, I dunno how this person can compete with the laundry list of advice available via Google, but I suppose beer & pizza money isn’t a bad thing.

I checked out the homeschoolgeek site. I took at a look at the history of the site through Alexa. Back in 2004 & 2005 it contained a list of sponsored links and the domain name was up for sale. You’d be amazed what some people would pay for. For some, if it saves them having to look up the information, then they are more than happy to pay a few dollars, assuming they find the site of course! I’m currently researching Costa Rica at the moment with a view to possibly moving there in the near future. Thankfully I won’t need to use this persons site for information on homeschooling as I can get a lot of excellent information for free on blogs like Costa Rica HQ, this one and many others.
We got another peek at stuff people would pay for last night - the list of classes at our local community college. Stocking a Pantry? Or Different Pasta Sauces? I think it’s a symptom of the passive learning culture - people just want to be spoonfed.
There’s SO much great free information online. Maybe it would be worth $90 to get some guidance on using the Internet. Maybe. I would sooner get spend the money on a good how-to book (easy to find these days, thanks to online reviews).
