What could have been the most embarassing Home Depot trip…

pvc regular clearToday we’re installing the new sink & vanity. This was supposed to have been done last week, but as anyone who doesn’t pawn their kids off daily knows, nothing ever gets done on time when you have to parent 24/7.

At least I have all the supplies, the worst of it being super-toxic and nasty-smelling pvc cement & glue. (I’m taking a break after applying some to let the air clear – it smells like nail polish remover to the nth power.) This part of the process was delayed because … I couldn’t open the tins. Not barehanded, not with one of those rubbery, tight-can opening gripper sheets. And I tried REALLY hard. After one attempt the skin on the back of my thumb just stayed in its stretched-out position.

I then envisioned the most embarassing possibility – going back to Home Depot and … asking them to open it for me. I realize I’m not a manly man by any means but even that would’ve been embarassing. Thankfully I got them open with a wrench.

So is the water flowing? I just over-caulked a window with brown caulk. Now I suppose when it rains, it’ll look like running frosting! Home projects are fun though.

PS – about the cockroaches -they’ve done this in my new home near San Jose since I’ve moved in – I’m betting on the ritual that kills them as I’ve tried no chemicals. Perhaps it’s the vinegar I wash my floors with???

Susan’s last blog post..With one look, a shiver runs up and down my spine

Yep – so that’s the big jobs in the bathroom. There’s more little stuff to do in the bathroom, along with other jobs around the house. Plus decluttering – or rather, getting rid of stuff we don’t need.

I’m looking forward to the giant cucarachas. I never dug them in India. Do the ones there fly?
