Pure joy

Aside from the past 2 years, I spent a LOT of time over the previous 7-8 years composing electronic music.  Wanting to get something out of it aside from rejections from record labels – and enjoying the background music in documentaries – I submitted my music to Pump Audio.  PA was all about library music, background music for tv, commercials and whatnot.  I figured that songs that would never make it in the fickle bullsh!t music market might be good for something else.  I don’t mind earning a little money for something I worked on, and in 2006 I submitted a bunch of music to Pump Audio.

Last week I got a cryptic email from PA’s new owner, Getty Images, and after several emails trying to get the business-speak translated, I got the answer in the mail: some peeps liked my music, licensed it for something or the other and as a result I’m getting nearly a $1000 for doing something out of sheer love.

Needless to say, I’ve celebrated this – regardless of the selling out aspect that I don’t subscribe to – and am happy and currently sh!tfaced.  Along with my Elvis impersonation this past weekend, this definitely makes for a damn good life.
