Who We Are

Trish: Sometimes I have absolutely no idea. Should I describe what I have done? What I like? The people I love? Well, here are some things about me…I’m a sort of youngish SAHM to M (11/02) and J (4/05). I used to be a teacher of ninth grade language arts, but I am a terrible speller. I’m very wordy sometimes, but I have no idea how to control it. I live in the exurbs, but some day I want to live on a rural farm. And someday, hopefully soon, I want to move somewhere warm so that I can swim in the ocean every single day of the year. I’m interested in becoming a childbirth educator. Both of my children were born naturally, and J was born at home. I spend most of my time with my husband and my children…homeschooling, playing, hiking, reading, knitting, and nursing (them both).

Arp: I guess I’m a WD (Working Dad? The acronyms escape me.). I’m a geek, working in IT & making websites. I’ve spent the last few years focussing on producing techno and house and had an ep released this past summer. My outlook on life has totally changed ever since our lovely children joined us, and the thought of what kind of a world our children will inherit has been influencing me more and more. The concepts of green building, sustainability and permaculture are rather new to me and are fast becoming my predominant interests. I’d never been camping or spent much time in the great outdoors until I met Trish, went camping a month later and then decided to spend the rest of my life with her shortly after that. (Apparently camping was the big litmus test ;-) ) It was on our last camping trip on the coast of Maine that I resolved to raise our children closer to nature after witnessing the tides. I too want to live somewhere rural, warm and near the ocean, podcasting DJ sets into the matrix. I spend my time with my family and working on various web-related projects, reading when I can and listening to audio books while commuting.

    Hey Trish and Arp!
Nice to see you two outside the celluloid, and thanks Trish for your lovely review of my book Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering, so happy you enjoyed it! Are you Ok with me posting your review on my updated website, which will be posted in a few weeks?

Also, I’m not sure if you read the first or second edition, the new (2009) one has a photo on the cover (here http://www.sarahjbuckley.com/html/new-gentle-birth-gentle-mothering.htm) I’d be delighted to post you a copy if you don’t have it. BTW the original version, with Durga’s gorgeous painting, which is on your review page, is now out of print and selling second-hand for up to $200 on Amazon so you might want to look after it if you have that one!

Much appreciation to you two for your generous sharing on Orgasmic Birth, such a gift to mothers, babies, fathers and families!
    Many blessings, Sarah
