As I believe I’ve mentioned previously, I’ve been very stressed about how we are going to deal with our upcoming trip to Costa Rica. In the beginning, I was stressed about receiving the passports. Well, we got all of them, thank goodness, so that worry is gone. Now I’m mostly stressed about what traveling with kids will be like, in what some people consider a developing nation.

To prepare for the eventual move to Costa Rica, we need to learn Spanish, which rocks since it’s a perfect example of self-directed learning. Why should the kids have all the fun? Our library system has been a great help since we can try different books and resources to see what gels with us. We started with library books for the kids, since it would be a fun way for all of us to learn together.

I’ve been nervously thinking about our upcoming trip to Costa Rica for months, and the first step is getting the passports. Not only do the kids need passports for the first time, but Arp and I both have to have ours renewed. Maybe this stuff seems routine for some people, but after my last passport application process, I was really freaked out about it.

Thanks to a cool countdown widget for WordPress (KB Countdown), I just made our Costa Rican Dreamline to the right. I’ve had the date of September 1, 2008 floating in my head for awhile. It’s not oriented towards the academic calendar as a new beginning but towards the end of summer and wanting Winter 2007-2008 to be the last one we spend in cold. My commitment to unschooling is growing, to the point where it is becoming a way of life. M is making some incredible strides lately, from asking many thought-provoking questions to creating his first fully-fledged story. Unschooling works. He’s obviously learning and really enjoying it too.
