Whew. I’m so glad it’s over. After leaving our old house in New York on Sunday night, it was a hellish journey that lasted until Wednesday, when we finally arrived in our new rental in beautiful Atenas, Costa Rica.

When I was 16, I wanted a Saab.  I wanted to be a yuppie bastard and this boded poorly for the future.
When I was 20 I came to my senses and wanted a 1954 Corvette.  It’s a gorgeous car and I would still love to own one, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon.  And it might have some trouble with Costa Rican roads

We’re moving in 16 days, we still have to pack & get rid of stuff, and the prospect of life without a steady paycheck looms.  Am I nervous?  Yep.  But I’m not afraid.  I keep coming back to Joseph Campbell’s quote on the experience of being alive.  That’s what it feels like right now, being alive & present.

If anyone’s noticed, I haven’t been writing much lately.  Ever since this pregnancy began, way back in the summer, I’ve found it very hard to sit down and write very much.  First it was the morning sickness and utter fatigue of the first trimester that stopped me.  Now, in my second trimester, new issues have cropped up.

As I mentioned yesterday, I’m not into ‘luck.’  I don’t believe much in ‘fate’ either.  But I can’t explain the change in our lives since we made a commitment in summer 2007 to move to Costa Rica.  Business picked up.  Consequently we were able to afford our scouting trip.  We fell in love with CR and came back with a single, defined purpose: making our dream real.  And knowing that it was more than possible.
