We haven’t been doing any blogging for the last few weeks because we’ve been dealing with a bunch of sick ducks. The ducks were doing just great until they were about 2 weeks old, and one night my husband noticed that Megatooth was sitting down in the brooder and looking very listless.

A few crocuses have appeared on my lawn, but the other signs of Spring seem seriously delayed. Maybe I’m just being impatient. Have other Springs come on so slowly? Or maybe it’s just because one of my bedrooms is filled with stinky 3-week-old ducks that poop day and night.

So the afternoon when our ducklings arrived, we absolutely had to figure out what to do with those chickens! I started by furiously making phone calls and e-mails to anyone I knew that might know someone who could take a chicken off my hands.

We are now one week into our duck project, so I thought I would give everyone a recap of what we have been doing so far.

We’ve been ultra busy this week, and keeping us on our toes are our baby ducks! They came yesterday, along with 19 chickens that we gave to a local homesteader today. We’ll write all about them when we have a moment, but we’ll reveal almost all of their names:
Macaroni (named by J) – the yellow runner who’s been very brave and inquisitive
Moonbeam (named by Trish) – the black runner who channels the power of night. And, as you’ll see in the video, tends to just space out.
