Want to keep up with Unschoolers on Twitter? Little Blue School just did a post on homeschoolers on Twitter, but Unschoolers seemed to be missing, or at least hidden in the list. So I thought I’d make my own list of Unschoolers I know on Twitter. There are probably others not listed here. Let me know if there are more names that I am missing!

I’ve heard this too many times, that kids need to be bullied to learn to deal with difficult people. That’s bullsh!t. I have yet to meet one parent who has actively introduced bullies to their children. If it’s that important, I think it would be a factor when people choose a school. ‘I can’t send my kid to XYZ School – there just aren’t enough bullies!’ Schools can be rated on how likely a child is to be bullied and all these parents who are so concerned about learning to …

Zen Habits has a great post today called Cut the Cubicle Umbilical Cord: The Seven Traits of the Free Man. As someone who chafed at employeehood for years and is very happy working for himself, I relate to every trait. Recently, I keep corrolating unschooling to entrepreneurship. Take duvet cover, add powerful fan. I’m not sure where this idea was born, but who cares? It’s cool!
Add every single stuffed animal in the house. We shipped almost all of their stuffed animals down, plus most of their toys. This was to make their transition easier with familiar things about, but also because they have different needs & priorities. Besides – the stuffed animals were great as packing material in the shipping barrels.
